Scottish Grand Prix of the sea – 24th – 25th June 2017

Gourock Bay, Greenock

The Marine leisure Capital of Scotland will welcome for the second time in a row the Scottish Grand Prix of the sea from Saturday 24th June to Sunday 25th June 2017. It attracted more than 30 000 spectators in 2016 and we wouldn’t be surprised if the number rises this year. Get down to Greenock’s Esplanade to watch a fleet of P1 Panther race boats, around 40 jet skis competing the P1 SuperStock and AquaX UK championships all over the weekend co-hosted by Inverclyde Council and Riverside Inverclyde. Visitors will enjoy the Inverclyde Showcase with some of the area’s best tourism-related businesses, including leisure activities, attractions, food and drinks. Sma’Shot Day – 1st July 2017

Paisley Town Centre

Head to Paisley (18 miles only from Greenock) and enjoy one of the oldest workers’ festivals in the world. The Weavers’ victory celebration is unique and will be led by the Charleston Drum, a colourful parade through town followed by an afternoon of festivities in the traditional “burning of the Cork”!

Paisley Pipe Band Championships – 22nd July 2017

High Street, Paisley

On the 22nd July enjoy some of Scotland’s top pipe bands competing in Paisley. All bands will march towards the Cenotaph and finish their parade at the judging area in the County Square. Judges from the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association will evaluate the bands on their performances.

 

Greenock Fake Festival – 29th July 2017

Battery Park, Greenock PA16 7QG

The Greenock Fake Festival is the biggest live music date in Inverclyde. You will see 3 “fake bands” put on great performances. All groups look, sound and move like the real rock stars. This year, enjoy the homage to Queen, the tribute act of Kasabian and Blondie at Battery Park. It’s a family fun event, foods and drinks are available on site.
